LYME Regis boss Julien Simier admits he is unsure what to expect from Okehampton Argyle in Joma Devon & Exeter League Premier Division action on Saturday (3pm).

Simier’s men are yet to meet Argyle’s second team this season and sit seventh, two places and nine points above the visitors to Davey Fort.

The two sides are playing the rearranged fixture after the original game, due to be played at Axminster 3G, was postponed.

And Simier told the Bridport and Lyme Regis News that Okehampton would therefore be an “unknown” quantity.

He said: “We don’t know what we’re going to be looking at, we haven’t played them yet, which is very strange.

“We’re arriving in March and there are other teams we haven’t played, some we’ve played twice already.

“Speaking to their manager last time they cancelled because they didn’t have enough players and didn’t want to get any of the first team involved, which I thought was quite good from them.

“Fingers crossed they will be OK players-wise. They seem to struggle a little bit with their reserve side, especially away.

“We literally don’t know what to expect from them.”

With the Davey Fort pitch soaking up the deluges from Storms Eunice and Franklin, Simier is hoping for a dry approach to the weekend.

He said: “It’s in the hands of the weather. Last week and the week before was quite heavy on the rain and didn’t help the Fort.

“If it’s really pouring down, we might be in a 50-50 to call if off. At the moment, we look OK, so fingers crossed.

“Everyone is eager to play knowing that we’ve got a week off next weekend before going to Lapford for the cup.

“It would be nice to have a game in our legs before going to Lapford.”

He added: “I think the confidence is growing, it’s coming back.

“I can see my old side coming back together, it’s nice. It’s just a case of continuity and making sure we play, if it’s not week-in week-out then every other week.

“If you don’t play for three or four weeks and you get back, the first week is always missing a bit of sharpness.”

Lyme are without Brad Rowe, while Callum Garrett may not be risked. Gary Knight returns and Fred Parsons will be in contention despite becoming a father in midweek.

Jack Lamb-Wilson has recovered from a rib injury.
