BRIDPORT will play five pre-season friendlies and at least one inter-club match as the Bees plan for the 2024/25 South West Peninsula League season.

Chris Herbst’s men are due in for pre-season training on Tuesday, June 11 and will have three-and-a-half weeks to prepare for their first friendly at home to Portland United on Saturday, July 6 (3pm).

Beer Albion travel to St Mary’s Field on Thursday, July 11 (7.30pm), before Dorchester Sports make the journey west on Wednesday, July 17 (7.30pm).

Bridport venture to Chard two days later (7.30pm), finishing up at home to Westland Sports on Saturday, July 27 (3pm).

Herbst raised the possibility of up to two in-house friendlies and believes a short calendar of five games will allow his team to work on tactics in training.

He told the Bridport News: “We might have a couple of in-house games, just so we can look at players. I don’t really want any more.

“We need to work on things on the training ground. Six friendlies is plenty for us, I’m quite happy with that.

“There are teams that have five, or nine. It’s just my personal preference and what’s best for us.”
