LYME Regis manager Kevin Turner has described Lyme’s start to the new Devon & Exeter League season as a “baptism of fire”.

Turner, who succeeded previous boss Micky Hunt earlier this summer, will lead the Seasiders at Colyton on Saturday (3pm).

They then tackle reigning champions Alphington, 2022 winners Lapford and last season’s second-placed club Elmore Seconds in consecutive games.

Speaking to the Bridport & Lyme Regis News, Turner felt the fixture gods could have been kinder to Lyme.

He said: “Our first four games are going to be a challenge, it’s quite a baptism of fire.

“But we’re ready and looking forward to it. The guys have had some good performances but there’s still quite a lot to work on.

“I’ve been pleased with the new signings but we could do with an out-and-out striker, we just lack a little bit of pace.

“The new guys have done well, we’ve got a lot to work with and hopefully they can do what’s expected.”

Turner’s three new recruits are Tyler Allen, Jack Farrant and Mike Knight, all coming across from Millwey Rise.

However, Callum Garrett plus Allen and Knight, will be unavailable for the season-opener.
