LYME Regis resume their Devon & Exeter League Premier Division campaign with a home clash against University of Exeter Seconds on Saturday (3pm).

Julien Simier’s side are super fresh after just one game in three weeks, when they thrashed Ottery St Mary Seconds 6-1 at Davey Fort.

While the French coach is keen to continue the momentum of that victory, Simier does not know what to expect from an unpredictable student side.

He told the Bridport & Lyme Regis news: “It would be nice to carry on where we left off.

“It’s going to be another challenge for us. Uni, at this time of the year, you don’t know what you’re going to be facing.

“They all came back to uni last week, so they settle the squad, do some trials and sort them out.

“I’m not too worried about them being tired because they’re quite young and fit.

“It’s going to be a big challenge for us to find that rhythm again and make sure we start the game well.

“We need to make sure we finish the game well physically, which you can lose when you don’t play week in, week out.”

One plus point of the long wait between games is affording Lyme’s injured players time to catch up.

Callum Garrett (groin) and Chris Higgs (shoulder) are doubts but Joe Bond (foot) and Mark Bailey (unavailable) miss out.

Simier said: “I’ve still got a little bit of uncertainty on Callum. He felt it a little bit in the last game, that’s why he came off in the 60th minute.

“He’s told me he was feeling a little bit better but I’m not too sure yet.”

On Bond, he added: “He will be missing for a bit longer until he has a scan on his groin.

“We’re worried it might be a hernia so it might take a bit longer to recover. We’re talking a month, maybe a little bit more.”
