DRIMPTON have moved to quash rumours of their club folding with an update on its’ present condition.

The Greens have not played since Saturday, November 12 when Misterton Reserves ran out 2-1 winners in their Perry Street & District League Division One clash.

Andy Loudon’s men have enjoyed a speedy rise through the divisions, winning back-to-back titles in Divisions Two and Three.

And with some speculation surrounding the club’s future, having played no game in a month, Drimpton addressed the gossip.

In a statement on social media, the Greens said: “With no fixtures remaining until January 3rd we just wanted to update you.

“We had to cancel two of our last few games due to a shortage of players, which is very disappointing.

“We are not alone with this as there seems to be a genuine shortage of players these days.

“However, over the past ten days or so we have been lucky to be able to get more players registered.

“So, all the comments going around about the club having to fold etc, sorry to disappoint some people but we are going nowhere.

“We will continue with all the hard work to ensure we can continue to offer grassroots football in our local community.

“We are always on the lookout for sponsors etc as money has been extremely tight this season. It isn't cheap running a club these days.

“Anyway, everyone at Drimpton FC would like to wish all of our followers and sponsors a very Happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year.”

Drimpton currently sit fourth in Division One on 11 points, nine behind leaders Pymore but with two games in hand.
