BRIDPORT boss Rob Marquis is relishing the challenge posed by Hamworthy United ahead of their Dorset Senior Cup quarter-final at the County Ground tonight (7.45pm).

With both sides plying their trade at Step 5 – the ninth tier of English football – the pair have witnessed contrasting fortunes this season.

Hamworthy are currently third in the Wessex League Premier Division, while struggling Bridport have won just one game all season in the Toolstation Western League Premier Division.

Marquis said: “It will be interesting how they compare with some of the top teams in our league.

“They play on 4G at Hamworthy so I’m assuming they’ll be quite adept at playing their own pitch. That may reflect in my selection.

“Some of our players are more suited to the mud, it’s going to be quicker on the 4G.

“We’ll have to be at our best to have any chance of progressing. We wouldn’t be the bookies’ favourite.”

Malakai Stanners could be used by parent club Poole Town, while Dan Baggs (knee) is a doubt.
