LYME Regis have bolstered their ranks with the addition of two Axminster Town players.

Former Bridport defender Cameron Vere and full-back Kieren Daniels will link up with the Seasiders in time for their league clash with Feniton at Davey Fort on Saturday (3pm).

Lyme have not played since late October when Dawlish sustained a 9-0 thrashing at the hands of the Seasiders.

With 20 clubs – totalling 31 sides – withdrawing from competition in the Devon & Exeter League, Lyme will only face Feniton, Kentisbeare, Dawlish and Chard Town Reserves in Premier East.

After the enforced lay-off due to Covid-19, Lyme returned to training on Tuesday night.

Joint coach Julien Simier is keen to resume the season.

He told the Bridport News: “We had 30-plus training, so that was good news. We’re looking forward to it.

“My players are saying it’s going to be quite tough, first game back against Feniton.

“No-one knows what kind of fitness we’re going to be in.

“I don’t know how Feniton are going to take it, but there’s always this competitive edge.

“We’re just glad to be back doing what we love – playing football.”

Goalkeeper Chris Higgs (quad) misses out for the rest of the season.

On new addition Daniels, Simier added: “Kieren is a left-back or right-back – he can play either side.

“It’s very handy.”
