A fire which destroyed a caravan on a track off the A35 is suspected to have started deliberately, according to police.
As previously reported, two fire crews were called to the caravan which was well alight on a track of the A35, near the Shipton Gorge turn-off.
Two fire crews from Bridport were called, alongside police at around 4am on Tuesday (December 19).
Police now believe the fire was started deliberately, although no arrests have been made.
A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: "It is reported that the fire is believed to have been started deliberately. No arrests have been made.
"We were called at around 4am on Tuesday, December 19 to a report of a caravan on fire in a layby on Dorchester Road in Bridport. There were no reports of any injuries. Enquiries are continuing into the incident."
A spokesperson for Bridport Fire Station said: "Both pumps were mobilised to a caravan fire on the A35.
"On arrival, crews found one caravan well alight in a track just off the A35.
"The fire was extinguished using 2 hose reel jets and 2 breathing apparatus wearers.
