BRIDPORT boss Chris Herbst believes midfielder Fred Parsons can be a “massive player” for the Bees this season.

Parsons is dual-registered with Devon & Exeter Premier Division high-flyers Lyme Regis, and scored twice for the Bees coming on as a substitute in the 2-2 draw with Elburton Villa last weekend.

Parsons has shown his intention to test himself at Bridport’s level but continues to play for Lyme, scoring in the Seasiders’ 7-2 win at Ottery St Mary Reserves on Saturday.

Commenting on Parsons, his former teammate during a spell at Lyme, Herbst said: “He’s a massive player.

“I’ve played with him and when we got him over he’s always a threat. He came on and first touch – goal. It literally was in seconds, it’s ridiculous.

“It’s great that he wanted to come over and try it at a higher level. Hopefully he stays and we go from there.

“Obviously, we want him fully. I feel he could be playing at this standard, easily. He would be in my best eleven.”

Bridport next host Torrington in league action on Saturday, November 19 (2.15pm).
