BRIDPORT are entering a “massive” period of fixtures, boss Chris Herbst has warned.

The Bees remain winless in the South West Peninsula League this season and have shipped 16 goals in their past three games.

They host Plymouth Marjon at St Mary’s Field on Saturday (3pm) looking to win their first league game since August 2021.

Herbst’s Bees then entertain Elburton Villa in the league on the following Saturday, with Marjon and Villa lying 16th and 18th respectively compared to Bridport’s 19th and last.

Herbst told the Bridport News: “We trained (Tuesday) and had a good turnout, everyone’s in a positive mindset.

“These next couple of league games are massive for us and everyone knows that. We need to go out and put a couple of good performances in.

“I’m confident it will start getting better, I’m sure of it.”

He added: “Since I’ve taken over, the performances have been better it’s just the defending – we need to sort that out.”

Former captain and centre-back Jake Owen and forward Mike Calverley have exited the Bees.

However, Bridport have signed former Sidmouth and Lyme Regis full-back Kieren Daniels and are close to agreeing two other deals for new players, including one defender.
