THROUGHOUT the month of April, Bridport RFC player William Murley has been doing burpees tirelessly every day for charity.

Murley aims to complete 2,000 burpees with the hope of raising money for the Bone Cancer Research Trust.

On Friday, the 19-year-old reaches 1,600 burpees and is still relishing the challenge.

He said: “It feels pretty good to be over half way, quite a sense of achievement to be getting it done.”

In hopes to raise more money for the charity, Murley has been doing 35 burpees twice a day in different locations around west Dorset.

He said: “By going to different places I get to make the challenge my own and really get to engage with the people who watch the videos by getting everyone to suggest locations.”

So far the Beaminster man has been completing his challenge on hills, forests, cliffs and even with the Bridport Rugby team that he plays for.

“The best place has to have been on top of Pilsdon Hill as the view was amazing, there was a strong wind which made it a really fun challenge.”

Currently, he has raised £585 for the charity which he says he’s helping because “of the devastating effects and daily struggles that people with bone cancer have to go through.”

He added: “I thought the least I could do is to raise money by doing a pretty intense exercise."

As a trainee personal trainer, Murley knows all too well how to manage his body for his strenuous task.

“Generally I have coped well with the stress the exercise has put on my body, however some days are harder than others because of the different locations. They are getting easier so long as I don’t choose a steep or unsteady ground location.”

With aims of raising £1,000, Murley is currently over half way in his fundraising efforts. If you wish to donate, search for William Murley on Facebook.
