RE: MP’s column - 11th March

OUR MP Chris Loder was talking about the help the budget was putting forward, yet I did not hear any proposals to bring the NHS up to a fit for purpose standard.

Before anyone shouts: I was in Dorchester hospital about six weeks ago and experienced how dedicated the staff are.

What concerns me is that the private health sector did not seem to be troubled by the pandemic, yet, the NHS was, and many of the senior medical staff have feet in both camps.

During this lockdown my doctor suggested I go private as it might get things moving. Even if I could afford it I would not, because I believe health and education should be provided for all.

Maybe it is time to nationalise private health and private education so that those who have influence, including those in power, had, by law, to use the same facilities as the majority of the population.

I have a feeling waiting lists and the like would quickly disappear. To have a successful society, health and education with laws that should deter and are rigorously enforced are the keys to understanding, and social cohesiveness, which is clearly missing at the moment.
