ON BEHALF of the Bridport Business Chamber, I would like to put on record our thanks to Bridport Town Council and the stalwart team behind the Christmas Cheer initiative for all their hard work in making Bridport’s festive season such a success despite the Covid restrictions.
Even though the Christmas Cheer event itself couldn’t take place, the volunteer committee was determined to bring cheer to the town and to encourage people to shop locally.
One of the first projects was to offer a Christmas tree, completely free of charge, to retailers in East, West and South Streets. This gesture was warmly received.
As a Chamber we appreciate the help and support from the Town Council in seeking to ensure that shoppers can safely maintain social distancing and that the ever-popular markets have gone ahead, while obeying the rules.
We hope local businesses and our Town Council will continue to work together in the months ahead as we all seek to come through the pandemic, perhaps with a renewed sense of community. Together, we are stronger.
Robert Mühl
President, Bridport Business Chamber
