We wanted to expand on the issues raised in our last CQC report, published over a year ago on May 29, 2013, referenced in the published article.

The crux of the issues raised were the inappropriate use of a medication fridge and a missing second signature on a medication administration record, both which were listed a ‘minor’ in the report but as they constituted a ‘non-compliance’, an action plan was required.

This was duly actioned and since then we have had two independent inspections of our whole medication administration system from pharmacists who rated us as ‘excellent’, in October, 2013 and February, 2014.

We also had an unannounced inspection in November, 2013 by Dorset County Council (contracts monitoring) which found no issues or non-compliance within our medication administration system.

As an open and transparent care home, we are happy to share these reports with anyone who wishes to see them and are confident they show we are fully compliant and have been for over a year.

We also like to mention the fact that in the original CQC report, we met or exceeded the standards in all other areas with many positive comments.

I’d like to thank all the families and friends of our residents and our dedicated staff for all their support and kind words, following on from last week’s article.

We are all proud of our care home and passionate about the care we provide to our residents.
