BEES: St Mary’s no-go leaves boss with mixed emotions

Bridport and Lyme Regis News: MIXED EMOTIONS: Trevor Senior MIXED EMOTIONS: Trevor Senior

TREVOR Senior was left with mixed feelings following Sat-urday’s postponement at St Mary’s Field.

The Bridport boss was disa-ppointed to see the game with Bitton fall to the weather but, with doubts surrounding the availability of Ryan Dovell on the day, he admits it may have been a blessing in disguise.

Senior, whose side are scheduled to return to action at Street on Boxing Day, said: “It was disappointing to lose the game because we haven’t had a home match for a couple of weeks.

“We also want to bounce back from the defeat we had at Larkhall as soon as possible.

“However, this time of year is always difficult, particularly for Ryan, who is a postman and has been working his socks off over the last couple of weeks.

“He’s not been finishing work until 3pm lately so it would have been touch and go whether he would have made it in time on Saturday, so, in that sense, the postponement may have done us a favour.”

The Bees currently sit 11th in the Toolstation Western Premier Division.

Bridport Reserves also saw their game at Hamworthy Recreation fall to the wet conditions in the Bespoke Teamwear Dorset Premier League, and there were also games off in the Senior League involving Chickerell United, Portland United Reserves and Upwey & Broadwey.
