JAMIE Symes reckons Trevor Senior is the man to help boost his confidence after linking up again with the Bridport boss.

The midfielder with an eye for goal joined the Bees on loan last week for an initial five-week period, returning to the club he left at the end of the 2010/11 season.

After falling down the pecking order at Dorchester because of illness and injuries, going out on loan to Bridport seemed like a no-brainer for Symes.

And renewing his connection with the Bees and Senior is just what he needs at the moment.

“I’ve known Trevor for years,” he said. “I first played for him at Dorchester Under-18s when I was 14, so we go back quite a long way.

“He’s the type of manager who can really boost your confidence and he’ll give me the chance to play in the position where I’m most successful.

“It’s good to be playing for a team and manager I know well and hopefully I can help them out.

“I haven’t been getting a run of games at Dorchester so it’s a chance to prove myself to the manager and go back a more confident player.”

The 19-year-old would have been involved in Bridport’s league clash at Bristol Manor Farm on Saturday had that not fallen to the weather.

Symes, Senior and the rest of the squad will try again this Saturday when Winterbourne United are the visitors to St Mary’s Field in the Toolstation Western Premier Division (3pm).

And one extra game Symes is set to feature in is the club’s fundraising friendly at home against Weymouth, which has been scheduled for next Tuesday (7.45pm).

Bridport could do with a bit of Symes magic as they still sit precariously near the foot of the table.

But with Ryan Dovell again able to link-up with the player who helped the Bees to promotion in 2011 the chances of a revival have been boosted.

They face a side this Saturday who are just one point and one place above them in the standings so Senior knows it will be a great chance of picking up a vital victory on home turf.
