LYME Regis ladies had a good 8-2 win against Branksome Park, which has helped them pull away from the danger-zone at the bottom of the league.
The men in the South Dorset League were unlucky in their game against Bridport C where, despite winning on two rinks, they lost 6-4 overall.
It was Lyme’s turn to host Cardiff this year in the annual match, a game which the hosts won by a margin of four shots, giving them a rare success against the team from Wales.
The highlight of the week was Ann Allman’s President’s Day.
Allman is the current Bowls Dorset Ladies’ Section president and she invited various dignitaries from within Dorset Bowls to come to Lyme, enjoy a not-too-competitive game of bowls followed by a lavish spread, once again prepared by catering officer Pauline Knight and her band of helpers.
Allman thanked all the various people who had helped her in her role as president, presenting them with various gifts.
During her year as president, Allman has been collecting for dementiauk.org as her chosen charity.
With still a long way to go to the end of her presidency, she has already raised in excess of £1,000.
Paul Pomeroy has won himself a place at Leamington in the last 16 of the National Champion of Champions.
A very suuccessful RNLI drive took place on Saturday, the monies from which, added to the money raised at Chris’ Carousel, will give a total of around £260 to donate to the RNLI.
