ALL three of Colfox School’s West Dorset champion indoor rowing teams picked up medals at the Dorset Youth Games, with two being crowned the best in the county.

In total, 92 young rowers competed as part of the Dorset School Games at Canford School.

The event was run by British Rowing staff and pupils in Years Seven to Nine competed in two, three and four-minute individual races, while there was also a 2,016m team relay.

Colfox’s Year Seven girls’ team featured Liv Willmore, Rosie Hart, Bronwyn Wright and Dulcie Gatehouse.

Willmore won the individual title with a distance of 503m, the 10th best score in the country and a national standard performance, and the team won the relay race to take the county champions title.

Tom Crabtree, Morgan Scadding, Tom Hughes and Thai Chant made up the boys’ Year Eight team.

The best performance came from Scadding who only came in as a last-minute replacement. He achieved 793m, the fourth best performance in his category.

The boys finished third in the relay, giving them the bronze medal.

Finally, the Year Nine boys’ competition was the closest of all the age groups and the Colfox team of Dane James, Kieran Dunning, Jed Gravelle and Todd Langdon won by just one metre.

Individually, James achiev-ed the best with a distance of 1,112m, the second best in his age group.

Special thanks should go to Will Pearce who gave up his time every Monday after school to help coach the Year Seven girls.
