LYME Regis manager Kevin Turner believes the Seasiders are on a gradual upward curve after a challenging start to the season.

After shipping six goals in each of their first two games, Lyme have chipped away and are steadily picking up points.

While the rate of accumulation is not to Turner’s ultimate liking, he is encouraged by the hard graft his players have put in to begin churning out results.

He told the Bridport & Lyme Regis News: “Definitely in the last few games I’ve been really impressed with their attitude and commitment.

“It’s just sloppy mistakes and I think that’s down to fitness and concentration. The fitter they’re getting, there is less mistakes.

“They’re all putting a shift in and that’s all I can ask, really. They’re battling and giving 110 per cent.

“A lot of the boys seem to be pressing a lot better and quicker.”

However, one key area for further improvement at Davey Fort remains Lyme’s search for a proven goalscorer.

The Seasiders have been searching for an out-and-out forward since the retirement of prolific marksman Joe Bond and Brad Rowe’s move to neighbours Bridport.

Turner has been forced to rotate a number of players up front this season to varying degrees of success and he again made no secret of his desire to fill the void.

He added: “I just wish I had a striker and that’s not fair for the boys up front because they’re trying really hard but they’re not natural goalscorers.”
