LYME Regis continued to put the pressure on Exmouth Town Seconds after thumping Cheriton Fitzpaine 5-0 at Davey Fort.

The Seasiders secured their sixth win from 10 league outings in Devon & Exeter League Division Three, with the help of a hat-trick from Declan Ellis and sit seven points behind the league leaders with a game in hand.

Tim Edwards’ men will travel to seventh-placed Clyst Valley Seconds this weekend (2.15pm).

The club’s reserve side, the current holders of the Dorset Intermediate Cup, suffered a 2-1 defeat as they came unstuck in their quest to defend their title at Wyke Regis Social Club. Top goalscorer Sean Gulliver notched both goals for the home side.

The reserves will be looking to bounce back on Saturday when they lock horns with Ilminster Colts at Davey Fort (2.30pm) in Perry Street League action.

There was also a 2-1 defeat at Millwey Rise for Lyme Bantams in Perry Street League Division One, they host second-placed Winsham at Woodroffe School on Saturday (2.30pm).

Elsewhere, fresh off their 25-goal mauling of Misterton, Beaminster’s encounter with Shepton Beauchamp was postponed.

The Memorial Playing Field outfit are scheduled to take on Perry Street away from home on Saturday (2.30pm).
