A BUMPER crowd packed Davey Fort as the Arsenal Charity XI beat a Lyme Regis Select XI on a special day for the West Dorset club.
Former Albanian Premier League player Nestor scored a hat-trick for the Gunners in a 5-0 win in front of around 700 fans.
The fundraiser saw Royle Family star Ralf Little and Casualty actor Patrick Robinson turn out for the charity side, while ex-Arsenal, Southampton and England midfielder Steve Williams also made an appearance.
“It was a great day,” said Lyme chairman Howard Larcombe. “We don’t know the final figure of how much we raised yet but the crowd exceeded all our expectations.”
Meanwhile, in their first ever game in Division Three of the Devon and Exeter League last Saturday, the Seasiders drew 1-1 against Woodbury at Davey Fort.
Dominic Rowe gave Lyme a first-half lead but Woodbury levelled after the break.
Lyme hosted Axminster Town Seconds last night and are home to Exmouth Town Seconds this Saturday (3pm).
