GOING on the two previous encounters between Lyme Regis and West & Middle Chinnock this season there should only be one winner when the sides meet on Saturday (2.30pm).

The Seasiders thrashed the Somerset outfit 7-1 in the Coronation Cup at Davey Fort in September before thumping the same opponents 5-1 in the Perry Street Premier League at the start of November.

However, Lyme boss Tim Edwards hasn’t seen his side play in close to two months because of postponements and this weekend’s tussle is also likely to be in doubt given the amount of rain around West & Middle Chinnock’s Oxleaze ground.

Last Saturday’s trip to Ilminster Reserves was the latest to fall to the weather, as did Lyme’s reserve-team game at Barrington in Division One.

They are due to entertain leaders South Petherton at Davey Fort on Saturday (2.30pm) – the sides have played each other in the league and cup this season with one victory each.
