CORFE MULLEN 3

BEAMINSTER 6

BEAMINSTER hit six in their sixth consecutive win with a very entertaining 6-3 victory over Corfe Mullen United in the Dorset Senior League.

Dan Quirke and Josh Baker both scored a brace while Dan Peach and Lewis Keenan scored goals in a dominant victory for the Rainbows.

After a slow start in very cold and windy conditions, Beaminster gifted Corfe Mullen a couple of chances and found themselves a goal down early on.

However, a 30-yard strike into the top corner from top scorer Quirke fired the Rainbows into action.

Quirke netted again with a cross-come-shot that was helped over the home keeper by the wind.

Baker added two goals before the break to put Beaminster firmly into the lead with one from the spot and a 20-yard shot with his left foot.

Beaminster again started the second half slowly, playing against the wind, and gifted Corfe two goals in five minutes.

However, they managed the rest of the game comfortably with Peach neatly finishing a one-on-one to widen the lead once more.

Keenan then scored on his senior football debut, following a through ball played on the half volley by Harry Barnes.

Beaminster manager Gordon Childs said he was happy with the result and thought his team could and should have scored more goals.

Childs’ side now sit fourth, seven points off leaders Corfe Castle with a game in hand.

The Rainbows will be looking to continue their run when they visit Portland United Reserves this Saturday (3pm).
