Edwards Charity Cup Final
Beaminster 3 PYMORE 0
BEAMINSTER secured their first trophy of the season by claiming the resurrected Edwards Charity Cup at St Mary’s Field.
Beaminster showed their intentions early on as they put the Pymore defence under immediate pressure.
Early chances included shots across the face of the goal from Murray Legg and Tom Marsh while Pymore’s James Pitcher offered some temporary relief when he broke clear and shot wide with their only chance of the first half.
The Pymore defence was now under siege and a succession of saves from stand-in keeper Chris Good, combined with bad finishing, saw the score remain goalless at half-time, despite 23 attempts at goal.
The second half started in a similar fashion and when it seemed that Pymore could produce a smash and grab upset, Legg broke the deadlock when he came from deep and stooped low with a header.
Further close-range goals followed from Josh Hunter and Andrew Mapstone to put Beaminster in complete control.
Pymore’s Darren Poole almost gave them a deserved consolation goal at the death with a glancing header.
Man of the Match: Chris Good (Pymore) Attendance: 110
