BRIDPORT Ladies thumped Berrow Ladies 8-0 to reach the Somerset County Women’s League Cup quarter-finals.

Played under favourable weather conditions with warm temperatures and a brisk wind, Bridport delivered a commanding performance from start to finish.

The match commenced with both teams vying to establish their rhythm, with Berrow Ladies providing an early test to Bridport's defence.

Bridport's midfielders worked tirelessly to find their stride, with the inclusion of new signings Stacie Smith and Aleeshea Rowland adding dynamism to the team.

Bridport had their first significant opportunity just four minutes into the game when Rowland narrowly missed the target in a one-on-one encounter with the goalkeeper. However, the team quickly regained momentum, establishing fluid link-up play between midfielders and forwards.

The breakthrough arrived in the seventh minute as Rowland expertly finished off a delightful pass from Clare Darby, setting the tone for Bridport’s dominance.

Building on their momentum, Bridport continued to press forward, with Florence Valinski adding to the tally with a well-taken goal in the 12th minute.

As the first half progressed, Bridport created further chances, with Rowland proving to be a constant menace to the Berrow defence. Her presence and attacking prowess kept the opposition on their toes as Bridport sought to extend their advantage.

Despite facing a determined Berrow side, Bridport's relentless pressure and clinical finishing ensured they remained in control as Rowland netted twice, with further strikes from Darby and Bridport’s leading goalscorer Holly Perryment for a 6-0 half-time advantage.

The second half saw Bridport make substitutions, while Berrow continued to offer resilience despite the scoreline.

However, Bridport maintained their dominance, securing a well-deserved victory with a second goal from Darby, who just tapped in a deflected shot when Polly Hughes cut in from the left side and shot to force the keeper to parry.

The day was capped off by another sensational left-footed goal from Perryment, affirming Bridport's superiority on the field.

With their place secured in the quarter-finals, Bridport now eagerly anticipate their upcoming challenge against Banwell, poised to continue their pursuit of success in the cup.
