DORSET was deprived of a winner on the final day of the 2023 Cheltenham Festival.
Harry Fry’s first runner of the day, Gin Coco, turned in a disappointing display to finish 15th in the McCoy Contractors County Handicap Hurdle.
Rated a 100/1 outsider for the blue riband Cheltenham Gold Cup, Joe Tizzard’s Eldorado Allen ran a good-value race when finishing seventh behind winner Galopin Des Champs.
Beaminster trainer Chris Barber’s Famous Clermont came up just short on the home straight after travelling strongly at the front in the St James’s Place Hunters’ Chase.

In contention and briefly ridden into second, Famous Clermont faded badly with the line approaching to take sixth.
Dorset’s final contender of the Festival was Might I, who challenged on the home stretch before claiming fourth behind winner Iroko in the Martin Pipe Handicap Hurdle.
Tizzard’s Scarface and Fry’s Metier were scheduled to run on day four but did not feature.
