BRIDPORT’S men cannot be caught at the top of Dorset League Division One following a 59-47 victory over Wellworthy.

The rinks of Brian Rumble, Bob Taylor, Fred Pomeroy and Craig Bosher (24-15), and Chris Thorne, Paul Tibble and Dave Roberts (24-13) triumphed.

Bill Payne, Tom Tocher, Brian Iverson and Ben Jones lost 19-11 – Bridport B are also top of their league.

The Edna Paisley Triples League Red team lost 46-26 to Dorchester B before beating Dorchester A 34-30.

In the South Dorset competition, Bridport men won 67-55 against Portland B, mainly due to a magnificent 28-9 success for the rink of Tocher, Pomeroy, John Carter and Jones.

The B team went down 67-49 to Wellworthy, though Clive Langdon, Dave Eastman, Peter Billett and Max Dare were unlucky to lose 21-20 having been in control for long spells.

Weymouth & Melcombe Regis beat the C team 75-35 with Michael Higman, David Aylott, Neil Kennedy and B Stone the best of the three Bridport rinks.

There was one rink win for the ladies in a Dorset League loss to Dorchester. Margaret Clapp, Sheila Jones, A Tibble and Frances Hewitt won 20-18.

In the last match of the South Dorset Evening League, Bridport’s ladies lost to Wellworthy, while the mixed friendly versus Feniton was won 80-73.

Top rink was Bob Taylor, Laura Taylor, Harry Gray and Ian Newitt.
