BRIDPORT BARRACUDAS 6 SALISBURY 7

A YOUNG Bridport side, including three who represented the South West in the Inter-Regional Championships earlier this year, were beaten in a friendly by Salisbury.

Warm seas at West Bay resulted in players feeling more comfortable with the conditions than any in memory.

Salisbury got off to a quicker start than the home side, scoring three goals without reply in the first quarter.

In front of a good crowd at the outer harbour, the home side started to make amends in the second quarter with a couple of goals, with Salisbury adding one more to their tally to take a 4-2 lead at the interval.

Salisbury then edged the third quarter with a further three goals with the home side just adding one, leaving a tough task for the last period.

The friendly really opened up in the last quarter with end-to-end action and Bridport made a real game of it, scoring quite freely to add three goals without reply, thanks to some fine saves from Adam Hoskins.

The last minute was frantic with the home side really putting Salisbury under pressure but finally falling a little short.
