A YOUNG girl has been rewarded with festive goodies after taking first place in an annual window competition.

Alice Hensman was the winner of the Yuletide Lyme painted windows competition, which is organised by Lyme Regis Business Group.

The seven-year-old and her mum Teresa were awarded a hamper stuffed full of locally-produced goodies.

Alice's winning entry in the Yuletide Lyme painted windows competition was drawn from a collection box at Broad Street shop Serendip at 3pm on Christmas Eve - before she popped into the Royal Lion Hotel to collect her prize.

Speaking as she collected her prize, Alice said: "We always do the painted window competition.

"It is great fun tracking down all the lovely windows and then working out the phrase."

Those taking part had to find the anagram made up from letters displayed in windows across the town. This year's phrase was 'We All Love Lyme Regis'.

This year’s theme was Christmas trees and each participating window had a letter hidden in their painting.

The businesses that took part this year were Amid Giants and Idols, Amusement Arcade, Boylos, By the Bay, Cobb Arms, Dotties Kitchen, Love and Wonder, Lyme Bay Dentistry, Lyme Regis Museum, Old Forge Fossil Shop, Primary Colours, Royal Lion Hotel, Ryder and Hicks, Scott Rowe Solicitors, Serendip, The Gallery Cafe, Lyme Regis Tourist Information Centre and The Writing Room.

Chairman of Lyme Regis Business Group Tony Colston, said: "There were 18 windows to find this year.

"Alice and her mum did very well indeed.

"Thanks to everyone who took part in the fun this festive season and we wish you all a great New Year and a healthy 2016."

Lyme Regis Business Group also organised the traditional switch-on Saturday events last month - including the lantern competition at the Baptist church and Santa's Grotto.
