The Jubilee String Quartet will appear at Concerts in the West's coffee concert in Bridport for the first time.

The quartet will perform at Bridport Arts Centre on Friday, June 1 at 11am.

The quartet consists of Tereza Privratska on violin, Julia Loucks on violin, Lorena Cantó Woltèche on viola and Toby White on cello.

The Jubilee String Quartet is an exciting new addition to the Concerts in the West ‘family’ of classical musicians.

Comprising Tereza Privatska (violin), Julia Loucks (violin), Lorena Cantó Woltèche (viola) and Toby White (cello), the group has claimed innumerable prizes and awards, including winning the Val Tidone International Chamber Music Competition 2010 and the St Martin’s Chamber Music Competition 2013.

Other prizes include the Karol Szymanowski International String Quartet Competition 2014 and Trondheim International Chamber Music Competition 2013. In 2012 the quartet were finalists in the Joseph Joachim International Chamber Music Competition, Weimar and in 2013 and 2015, in the Royal Over-Seas League.

The quartet was formed in 2006 at the Royal Academy of Music, where from 2012-2013 the group held a Leverhulme Chamber Music Fellowship. Jubilee also held the Richard Carne Junior Fellowship at the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance from 2013-2014.

Awards won by the quartet include the Tillett Trust Young Artists’ Platform, the Park Lane Group Young Artists, the Hattori Foundation and the Worshipful Company of Musicians Concordia Foundation Artists Fund. These four young musicians are also recipients of the Philharmonia MMSF Charles Henderson Ensemble Award and the Eaton Square St Peter’s Prize 2014.

The quartet has performed widely throughout the UK in venues such as the Wigmore Hall and the Purcell Room, and their continental tours have included a performance in the presence of the former Czech president Vaclav Havel.

They also enjoy a variety of outreach work as part of the Live Music Now! scheme and were invited to perform with the Doric Quartet at the Festpiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in August 2016. More recently they were part of the international chamber music series in Basel, Switzerland (March, 2017).

Catherine Maddocks, director and founder of Concerts in the West, said: “I am delighted to welcome the Jubilee String Quartet for the first time to Concerts in the West. These are incredibly fine young musicians and I am thrilled that they are able to take the time to play for us.”

At the arts centre the quartet will perform Haydn String Quartet In G Major, Op 64 No 4 and Janāček String Quartet No 2, (Intimate Letters).
