IN February Opera Circus led a project at Bridport Arts Centre called The Complete Freedom of Truth.

This is a long term youth arts project which began in Srebrenica in 2008. Young people from west Dorset have been involved with the project since 2012 both inviting young people from Srebrenica in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Belgrade, Serbia to Bridport and going out to work with their friends in these countries.

The performance in February shared the week of work that a group of young people from Dorset, disabled and non disabled, had worked on.

Now the full version of that project is coming back to Dorset and it needs help.

There are around 42 young people coming from Dorset - Dorchester, Weymouth, Bridport, Lyme Regis, Beaminster and Portland - and the remaining 50 from seven organisations from eight European countries.

The project is costing £100,000 - and organisers have already raised £80,000 themselves but there is now a crowdfunding campaign to raise the shortfall.

The Complete Freedom of Truth is an inclusive international youth led project working with young people from diverse backgrounds, cultures and abilities

Tina Ellen Lee said: "In these politically and socially troubled times, we believe that it is imperative that young people have the opportunity to collaborate with peers from different backgrounds and cultures, understand differences and build skills in order to become socially engaged citizens. If like us, you believe in the importance of intercultural dialogue, social justice, equality and young people’s empowerment, please support TCFT."

A pilot of the project was held at Bryanston School in 2014 and then went to Srebrenica in 2015.

As part of TCFT phase two and in partnership with the University of Bournemouth’s Global Engagement HUB, TCFT young people will be holding a day-long dialogue with, MEPs and policy makers about the recent UK referendum results and what it means to their future as Europeans.

TCFT UK young people, ages from 13 – 26, will host young people and group leaders from Bosnia, Georgia, Italy, Portugal, Romania and Serbia.

The facilities on offer include animation, radio and television broadcasting, film and photography, dance, music, theatre, poetry, a variety of digital media including CGI, painting with light, journalism, communications and events management.

Tina said: "We will explore a variety of topics that the young people themselves have suggested including the future of Europe, democracy, gender, human rights, inclusion, the current state of migration and refugees in Europe and the development of the youth voice in policy making. Some of the results of these debates will be used by the young people to develop the content of their creative work and final show."

Next year there will be a second week long project at Bridport Arts Centre in the February half term and then a third large project in Sarteano, Southern Tuscany Italy.

Young people from west Dorset will also participate along with Dorset organisations, Diverse City, The Arts Development Company, Opera Circus and students from Bournemouth University.
