A FAMILY day of fun will return to West Bay this weekend for an annual charity fundraiser.

West Bay Day will be held on Sunday (7) and will include a host of activities, as well as ten hours of live music.

Last year, more than 3,000 people flocked to West BAy to enjoy the event, which raised money for the RNLI and other charities. There was disappointment for the organisers though as the Jurassic candles couldn’t be lit due to the wind.

Sylvia Stafford, chairman of West Bay Days, said: "The event will soon be here and as usual it promises to be a great day out for all the family.

"The event starts at 1pm following the end of the Jurassic Coast 10km and new half marathon runs, which this year will start and finish in West Bay. Come and enjoy the fun and at the same time support West Bay Days’ nominated local charities and groups which work for the benefit of the local community."

During the afternoon there will be a duck race on the River Brit, classic cars and bikes will be on display along the Esplanade and the Uplyme Morrismen will also be performing.

There will be a selection of popular pirate games, as well as numerous stalls open on the Esplanade and greens.

The event will include 10 hours of live music on The Mound, with K2 performing as the headline act. Also providing live music will be Stress, Storm, Mama Feelgood, The Vinyl Money, Barracoodas (corr) and Nina Garcia who will open the entertainment at 1pm.

The Chesil Model Flying Club will be providing further evening entertainment including demonstrations of night flying. An outdoor bar will be open for business and the West Bay Days’ café will be open in the Salt House to serve home-made cakes and teas.

In May, the West Bay Days group raised charity funding at the annual West Bay pirate day.
