BROADCHURCH fans are in for a double delight as the show's Icelandic score composer will be visiting the town as part of a special screening of the final episode.

Musician and producer Ólafur Arnalds, whose Broadchurch score won a BAFTA, will be playing the haunting soundtrack to the hit television show on February 23 at Bridport's Electric Palace, before the last episode in the second season will be broadcast on the big screen.

Mr Arnalds is expected to be joined by Broadchurch writer Chris Chibnall, who will be in the audience to soak up the atmosphere and catch viewers' reactions to the drama.

The music Arnalds' composed for the show is closely linked to the themes and plot of the drama.

The closing song for each episode, 'So Close', even contains a clue to the identity of the killer of young Danny Latimer.

Chris Chibnall is described as a long-time fan of the artist's tracks - which mix strings, piano and synthesiser - and is said to have listened to Ólafur's music while writing the script for the show.

He said: "When Ólafur talked about a special tour with his Broadchurch soundtrack, we both had the same thought - how amazing would it be to bring the music to the area that inspired it, for a unique one-off show.

"And then, on top of that, by pure coincidence, it's the night that the final episode of Broadchurch transmits.

“It's pretty special for the Electric Palace to be hosting this gig. Everyone at the Palace has scrambled to incorporate this and I think it's going to make an absolutely unique, emotional night.

"Only in Bridport - Broadchurch is coming home."

Margery Hookings from the Electric Palace said they were excited to host the event in the town that was the real-life inspiration for the show.

She said: "We were thrilled to have Olafur Arnalds coming here as the Broadchurch music is so haunting and so atmospheric.

“One of our Twitter followers pointed out that the event coincided with the show's finale. Olafur and I had a conversation via Twitter which also brought in writer Chris Chibnall, who of course lives in Bridport, and we arranged for the show to be juggled around a bit to conclude with a live screening of the series finale.

She added: "Chris will be coming along too - so he'll be one of the few people in the audience who knows how the series ends.

"To hear the soundtrack played live by the person who composed it and then sit down to see the plot unfold in the place the series was made should be an incredible experience."
