Thinking about getting fit? Then a new pharmacist wants to hear from you.
Marina Mendes has just taken up the role at Beaminster Pharmacy, and she's on a mission to get residents in the town to get - and stay - healthy.
She says the best way to start is to increase daily exercise and eat healthily.
Marina said: “I decided to run a campaign to raise awareness of how important it is to fuel your body with lots of good and essential nutrients - lots vegetables and fruit and good fats. The secret is to choose a variety of different colour vegetables - go for the rainbow colours and always add some proteins and a small portion of good fats like nuts or avocado. It’s also important to take daily exercise and increase your steps but if you have any medical issues seek advice first from your doctor or local pharmacy.”
Determined Marina has also encouraged her team at the pharmacy to get involved, and they are adopting this campaign with great enthusiasm. If you would like to know more or need advice, the pharmacy is a ‘Healthy Living Pharmacy’ which means they can advise on lifestyle issues that will have a direct effect on well-being which can lead to a happier and healthier life.
