WHEN her mum says she's mad and likes running she's not kidding so it is no surprise to hear that Posy Daniel is taking on a marathon a day for eight days.

The 22-year-old fine art student from Broadoak left from Charmouth on Saturday (april 1)and plans to run 210 miles along the South West Coast path to Falmouth.

She's doing it for The Uganda Schools project.

She began in Charmouth and will get to Falmouth on Saturday (april 8). She was joined for a day by her brother JJ, 18, and sister Olivia, 29, who ran from Budleigh Salterton to Torquay and friend Poppy Booth who ran with her from Charmouth to Beer. So far she has raised nearly £2,000.

Her feat is even more surprising when you know she couldn't play sports at school having damaged her knees so badly she needed four operations.

Mum Charlotte said: "She is totally Amazonian. She's had four knee operations.

"She likes running but she doesn't go fast that's not the aim.

"The aim is to enjoy it, to run it and to inspire other people who have had challenges.

"She wanted to do it for the Uganda Schools project which is a school set up by my my elder daughter Olivia's friend in Uganda.

"Olivia went out there and worked for a little bit. It is just a private individual, a chap in his 20s who has literally set up this school providing fresh water, teachers and a building.

"It is a place that for some reason a lot of them are deaf, so they have been making sure they have the right teachers to teach them using sign language.

"So we know where the money is going."

Posy has already raised money for the project running the Venice half marathon.

Mum added: "I am sure she'd love to go over there at some point and teach them art but at the moment apart from doing this she is concentrating on her degree show."

Mum is the support vehicle and has been ferrying supplies of fudge, energy bars, water, spare trainers and some rather sweaty clothes.
