FOUR people were injured after a car collided with a van near Beaminster.

Firefighters from Bridport and Beaminster were called to the crash between a Ford Ka and a Mercedes Sprinter van at Pound Hill in Corscombe at around 1.15pm yesterday.

Crews used hydraulic cutting equipment to release two casualties who were medically trapped in the Ford Ka - including one person who was removed on a spinal board.

A spokesperson from South West Ambulance Service, said: "We were called to the scene at 1.18pm and there were four casualties involved in the incident.

"One person was suffering from a chest injury, while three other people suffered minor injures.

"All four were taken to Yeovil District Hospital for treatment."

Dorset Police were also called to the scene and closed the road until both vehicles were recovered at just before 3.30pm.

A Dorset Police spokesperson said: "A white Mercedes Sprinter van, registered to a man from Somerset collided with a silver Ford Ka, registered to a woman from Sherborne.

"The incident took place along Pound Hill, close to New House Farm. The fire service cut off the roof of the Ka in order to remove people from the vehicle."
