THE main attractions for this year’s Melplash Show on August 26 will be The White Helmets - the Royal Signals Motorcycle Display Team - and the Rockwood Dog Display.

New to the show this year are two new cooking competitions – to find the best curry and the best fish cake.

The curry test is sponsored by the Bridport Taj Mahal and Sea Spring Seeds, West Bexington, with first prize a £40 voucher to eat at the Taj Mahal, second prize a selection of curry cookbooks, including two signed by Pat Chapman, Britain’s curry king and third prize a selection of Bonsai chilli plants from Sea Spring Seeds.

Helen Choudhury, of the Taj Mahal will also be showing visitors how to cook a fish curry.

The fish cake challenge is sponsored by the Riverside Restaurant, West Bay, following its successful fish soup competition last year won by jeweller Richard Batten.

First prize is an £80 voucher to eat at the Riverside and second is a £40 voucher to dine there.

Valentine Warner is the celebrity guest. He grew up on a farm in Dorset and is best known for his cookery skills following his successful BBC Two series, What to Eat Now.

Judging for the farms, flock and gardens competitions are in June.

Schedules will be available shortly from the show office and the schedules and application forms will be available on www.melplashshow.co.uk
