Performances from a locally based group of traditional English folk dancers will take place across the county this summer.

Wyld Morris, a Bridport-based mixed Morris side of dancers and musicians dancing in the Cotswold tradition will be performing across the west Dorset area from May.

The group was first formed in 2010, and did its first performance in 2011.  Morris dancing is based on rhythmic stepping and the execution of choreographed figures usually wearing bell pads. A band or single musician, also costumed, will accompany them.

Their first appearance will be on Wednesday, May 1 at Bucky Doo Square in Bridport for May Day festivities between 1.30pm to 2.30pm.

Following that, they will be performing at the Bridport Millennium Green on Saturday, May 18 between 1.50pm to 2.20pm before making an appearance at the New Ship Inn in Shipton Gorge on Wednesday, May 29.
