A BROADOAK holiday site has been granted permission to add four extra camping pitches and two shepherds’ huts.
The Old Bidlake Farm Campsite application was backed by Symondsbury Parish Council, deciding that the additional spaces were unlikely to make the site overcrowded.
The parish said that although there has been flooding in the area recently it only affected the approach road with the camping and huts to be situated on higher ground.
Camping has been taking place on the orchard site since 2011 when permission was granted for four pre-erected tents.
The new shepherds huts will be built on site over 2-3 years using local materials and labour.
Four of the pitches will be located in the middle of the plot, south of the existing four pitches with the two huts along the eastern site boundary, adjacent to a hedge.
