Families from across west Dorset made a special effort to create World Book Day costumes for their children to wear to school.
The celebration took place last Thursday and saw young readers dressed up as their favourite book characters.
In some cases, parents, teachers and even pets got in on the act too!

Among the highlights this year was the ever-popular Harry Potter costume along with an innovative take on World Book Day - a pair of dictionaries!
World Book Day is a charity with the aim to help change children’s lives by making reading together and reading for pleasure a habit for life.
The organisation says that reading for pleasure is the single biggest indicator for success in life - more than family circumstances, educational background, or income.
