Campaigners for peace in Gaza will be holding a rally in Bridport tomorrow afternoon.

Dorset Palestine Solidarity Campaign are hosting the rally in the Borough Gardens on Saturday, February 10, calling for a ceasefire to end the conflict between Israel and Hamas in Gaza.

The event will see local speakers hold talks and singing from the 'Red Choir' and will take place from 12pm until 1pm.

A spokesperson for the event said:  "We will be calling for 'Ceasefire Now' and an end to the genocide in Gaza.

"Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres has described the level of civilian death as 'unparalleled and unprecedented', compared to any conflict since 2017.

"The charity Oxfam have noted that the daily death rate of civilians in Gaza is higher than any other major 21st century conflict.

"At least 28,000 people have been killed, 70 per cent of whom are women and children. Over half of Gaza’s homes destroyed or damaged. Every university has been deliberately destroyed. Hospitals, schools and shelters have been targeted.

"Following the eighth, 200,000 strong, national march for a ceasefire in London, the Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC) and its partners are calling a National Day of Action across the country this Saturday, 10 February. A day of rallies, marches and protests."
