The Environment Agency have issued a flood warning for part of West Dorset, as the county prepares for Storm Isha.

The West Bay area will be affected tonight (Sunday, January 21) from the oncoming storm. This is because very strong winds and large waves could overtop sea defences with sea spray and a tidal surge increasing water levels.

The warning for forecast high water is in place between 12.30am to 4am on Monday, January 22. A total water level of 6.2m AOD is expected for West Bay, coupled with Force 9 south westerly wind.

Flooding to roads and farmland may be possible at these times, however the conditions may apply two to four hours either side of the high tide.

The Environment Agency expects properties situated behind the Esplanade, Quayside, Heron Court, Forty Foot Way, Driftwood, Fourviews, Britbank, Barwick, Sunset, Riverside, the George Hotel, Colmer Lodge and the Parkdean Holiday park to be affected.

The agency advises people to be careful along beaches, promenades and coastal footpaths.

An update to the warning is set to be issued by 1pm on Monday, January 22- or as the situation changes.
