'Light snow' is likely to fall in west Dorset tomorrow morning, Wednesday, January 17, the latest Met Office forecast says.

Dorset road gritting teams have been out and about since 2pm this afternoon amid freezing temperatures in the county.

They will be back out again at 4am tomorrow, Wednesday, January 17, gritting roads in the county with road surface temperatures set to fall to minus 6.8 Celsius in Dorset, a council spokesman said.

Motorists and pedestrians are being urged to take care on the roads and pavements as the cold snap is expected to continue until Saturday.

The Dorset Council spokesman said: "It goes without saying, please take extra care when you are out and about, whether driving or walking.

"Drive carefully on all roads, whether treated or untreated, as there are still wet areas following the recent rainfall."

Sleet changing to light snow is in the Met Office forecast for Bridport tomorrow morning from 7am, said to be turning to light snow by 11am. Temperatures will reach a maximum of 3c.

Further west in Lyme Regis no snow is predicted with the weather expected to remain cloudy turning clear by the early evening.
