A bed and breakfast in Lyme Regis has won yet another award to add to its long list of accomplishments.

Dorset House in Pound Road has been announced as the winner of Best B&B by The Good Hotel Guide.

The guide’s César Awards comprise of a collection of outstanding hotels, inns and bed and breakfasts throughout Britain and Ireland. The venues are recommended by readers and then professionally inspected.

Jason and Lyn Martin, who own Dorset House, said:  “We’re absolutely thrilled to receive this accolade from such a prestigious body as The Good Hotel Guide.

“At a time when most hospitality businesses are finding it very tough, to be recognised for your efforts is a real boost. It’s great to see Dorset so well represented in the accolades."

The latest award adds to the boutique bed and breakfast's many accolades over the years which includes winning the AA Best Breakfast of the Year award in 2022.

The couple added: “We use local produce where possible and have built up a great network of local suppliers which our guests love, enabling us to be creative with our breakfast offering and to offer guests a real inside track view of life in Dorset.”

Slow-reared bacon and sausages come from Downhouse Farm at Eype as part of their full English breakfast or for vegetarians there are homemade veggie sausages and tofu scrambled eggs.

Honey baked figs with rose scented Ricotta cheese or homemade granola is also available on there unique and award-winning breakfast menu.

Dorset House was also recognised as the fourth best bed and breakfast in the world by Tripadvisor in 2021 as well as winning the Dorset Tourism award for the best bed and breakfast in the same year.

Plumber Manor in Sturminster Newton has also been selected for an award, winning the Best Hotel in the South West of England.

Richard Prideaux-Brune, owner of Plumber Manor, added: "We are absolutely delighted to receive this prestigious award.

"I opened Plumber Manor as a hotel in 1973, along with my wife Alison and brother Brian as chef. 

"Fifty years on, supported by a wonderful team of staff, it remains a family affair. It is very heartening that after 50 years, we should still receive this accolade."

Both venues will now feature in The Good Hotel Guide’s latest edition which can be viewed online and features more than 700 hotels.
