AN EXHIBITION on nostalgia is to finish with a flourish this weekend.
Bridport Heritage Forum's exhibition started in the town hall on August 5 and continues until Saturday, August 19.
More than 1,000 visitors have enjoyed the displays, with one of the most popular being ‘Rock ‘n Roll to Rationing’, looking at childhood in the 1950s
One of the most popular displays in ‘Rock ‘n Roll to Rationing’, looks at ‘Childhood’ in the 1950s and with a special focus on radio and TV programmes including ‘Watch with Mother’, and the toys and books of the era.
Television presenter Paul Atterbury is joining members of the forum at 11am on Saturday, August 19 to talk informally about his involvement with these early TV programmes - he was the model for Andy Pandy - and also to add his expert knowledge about the original 50s toys in the display.
Anyone with a 1950s toy tucked away in a cupboard is invited to bring it along on Saturday, to ‘show and share’ with Paul and the other visitors.
This weekend will be the last opportunity to step back into the 50s, and discover, or remember, what life was like 70 years ago, - at home, at school and on a ‘night out’.
Entry is free and the exhibition can be accessed via the Town Hall entrance in East Street, or by the lift in Bridport Tourist Information Centre.
