Smart motorway
Those of us who find it scary driving on “smart” motorways will, I am sure, welcome the signal from Liz Truss that she will ban “smart” motorways if she becomes the Prime Minister.
Ms Truss made this promise when she addressed the final Tory leadership hustings on Wednesday evening.
If she takes over at No 10 let’s hope we will soon see the restoration of hard shoulders in place of “live lanes” on all these dangerous stretches of highways, on which it is reported there have been 63 fatalities in the four years up to 2019.
I pray that safer journeys beckon.
