At Thursday evening’s meeting of the West Bay Community Forum, members heard retiring town clerk, Bob Gillis, reflect on his time with the council and the opportunities for further changes in the future.

We all wish Bob a long, happy and healthy retirement and thank him warmly for the special concern that he has shown for West Bay matters over the years.

Last Friday, the Britt Valley camp site opened for this season.

By Saturday, the site was almost full to capacity with many folk taking advantage of the prolonged spell of fine, dry weather to enjoy this part of the Jurassic Coast.

With at least a dozen visiting clubs taking part, the Bridport Gig Club Annual Regatta seems to have been a huge success with the cake stall selling out by early afternoon.

The pop-up exhibition and book launch in the north corner of a very crowded Station Car Park was a huge success, with many copies of the newly released book, ‘War, Peace and New Beginnings, being snapped up by enthusiastic supporters.

Copies of the book are available at £4.99 from The Book Shop, Waterstones or Bridport Tourist Information Centre.

In attendance was a 1917 Nash Quad munitions carrier.

Although rather frail, it is one of the living reminders of that awful conflict 100 years ago.

The West Bay Road Car Park is finally open and was full to capacity on Sunday.

Sunday 15th was the return of the long awaited car boot sale.

I expect many people will welcome that good news.

Vurlands Farm at Swyre has thanked all those that attended their relocated car boot sales so far this summer.

There were still vehicles illegally parked along Marsh Barn Road on Sunday afternoon, making it extremely difficult for the bus to negotiate its route, and highly dangerous for emergency service vehicles.

Please refrain from parking along Marsh Barn Road at any time.
