A budding daredevil has raised more than £1000 for charity in memory of a loved one.

Lyme Regis resident Ania Driver completed a freefall jump, which not only helped her to overcome fears, but also raised money for a charity close to her heart.

The jump took place near the end of June for Ania, who is the Lyme Regis branch of The Royal British Legion's (TRBL's) community support committee member, and helped her to achieve a personal ambition to both overcome a fear of heights, but also to raise money to acknowledge the assistance TRBL provided to her late husband, Terry, during his last few years of life.

Ania's freefall jump has been a culmination in an inspirational journey at the end of which she completed her jump with the Red Devils, and in doing so has raised more than £1000 for the TRBL Poppy Appeal.

Ania particularly wanted to do the jump this year as her way of recognising the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War, but particularly to commemorate the memory of Terry.

Terry served as a Royal Marine for many years, and spent a large proportion of his service jumping in and out of "Junglies" (Royal Naval Air Service support helicopters),

In his last few years of life, Terry became totally dependant upon Ania for support.

After Ania approached TRBL, at the suggestion of a friend, the charity kindly provided a wet room at home and other aids to allow Ania to care for Terry as best she could up until his death.

Ian Marshall, chairman of the Lyme Regis branch of TRBL, said: "The branch is immensely proud of Ania's personal journey of courage and and we are extremely grateful to Ania for raising this fabulous amount of money for the Poppy Appeal.

"The collection window is still open, so please donate to Ania's cause by visiting the JustGiving website and search for Ania Driver. "We, in the Lyme Regis branch of The Royal British Legion, are immensely proud of Ania in all that she has achieved. "Well done Ania."
