DORSET could be in for a bumper summer of tourism after starring on several TV shows and even a book.

Presenter Julia Bradbury has told walkers that the ‘spectacular views’ are guaranteed to ‘knock your socks off.’ Britain’s Best Walks, which was aired on Friday, put the county in the spotlight.

The presenter described the walk from Shell Bay to Old Harry Rocks as her favourite coastal walk in the UK.

She started her journey at Sandbanks before getting the ferry across Poole Harbour and beginning the eight mile walk to Old Harry Rocks.

Along the way she enjoyed some local food, explored local history and saw some of the area’s wildlife.

Meanwhile, petrol heads have been getting their Dorset fix, thanks to The Grand Tour, which became available to stream on Friday.

It had been a long time waiting since Jeremy Clarkson tweeted about filming in the county last year for his new Amazon Prime series.

And fans won’t have been disappointed with Clarkson, alongside co-hosts James May and Richard Hammond, having a destructively good time in Dorset.

The ninth episode of the series, entitled Berks to the Future, sees Richard Hammond put together three “bug out” vehicles, which are designed for surviving an apocalypse.

Clarkson and May then attempt to destroy the vehicles at Lulworth ranges...with the use of a tank.

If all that shooting is a bit too much excitement, why not settle down with a relaxing read?

An image of Burton Bradstock beach has been picked as the cover of the National Trust Handbook 2017.

A spokesman said: “We received an overwhelming response to our photo competition with over 8,000 entries. We are delighted to announce that the winner is Paul Rook and his image of the Jurassic coast will feature on our 2017 handbook.”

Incidentally, presenter Julia Bradbury was on the judging panel for the competition, alongside expert photographers and National Trust directors. They felt that Paul’s image stood out for its inspiring message; to go outside, explore and build memories.
