SUNDAY saw a celebration of what Bridport's now closed Trick Factory did best.

Volunteers built the ramps outside the arts centre for youngsters to show off their skating and biking skills and used the opportunity to highlight the need for new premises.

Robert Ridge, who has been running the Trick Factory on the St Michael's Trading Estate for 17 years said £375 was collected in donations on the day.

He said: "It wasn't really about the money side of it though. It was just a good fun day. It was well attended and well supported. Everybody there had a lot of fun and the best bit was it was good to show all the young users enjoying it and having fun.

"The three main points about Sunday was one it was a celebration of what we had and a thank you for that and to raise more awareness and the day itself being a fun event."

Mr Ridge spoke at the event and mentioned there were possible solutions to the search for premises - with the old Mountjoy School and council buildings and the former recycling centre in South Street only yards down the road.

He said: "All of those have space we could occupy albeit temporarily.

"On a daily basis I drive past the old Mountjoy and look at the swimming pool and think we could put something in there over the winter.

"We can be quite flexible we need the minimum size of a double garage obviously with a bit of height but there is no limit the space we do need."
